Finavia held a tender for the four taxi lanes at Helsinki Airport. From the turn of the year, the lanes will be used by Lähitaksi, Bolt, FixuTaxi and Taksi Helsinki.

What Finavia says

According to a Finavia press release, the airport's official contract taxi companies will be Lähitaksi Oy, Bolt, FixuTaxi (Mankkaan Taksi Oy) and Taksi Helsinki Oy. They will take lanes one to four in this order, and the new contracts enter into force on 1 January 2027.

Lähitaksi, FixuTaxi and Taksi Helsinki have already operated as contract taxis in the current contract period. Bolt starts as a new contract company. According to Finavia, Bolt will start, for the first time in Finland, taxi rides that do not require the customer to order through an app.

About half a million taxi rides a year are driven from the airport taxi station. According to Finavia, all four lanes have been used by contract taxi companies since the start of 2025. The tender set requirements for, among other things, the quality of service, customer service training and language skills of drivers, the number of licensed taxis and low emissions. Finavia does not set prices. The companies offered their own customer prices in the tender.

What about other companies

According to Finavia, the tender does not remove other taxi companies' possibility to do business at the airport. All taxi companies can still bring their passengers to the airport. A separate waiting area has been designated for app rides and pre-booked taxis that have no contract partnership with Finavia.

According to the headline of Helsingin Sanomat, Menevä loses its place on the airport's contract lanes. Finavia's press release does not mention Menevä, and the HS article behind the paywall has not been read in full, so the matter should be confirmed with Menevä or Finavia. In its own press release, Taksi Helsinki says it continues as a contract taxi company in the new contract period and describes the airport as Finland's busiest taxi station.
